Update 12-23-25: Well, it's been over two years since I purchased my Kitchen Mama can opener. I'm still using it almost every day and it works as well today as the day I first opened the box. I love this thing. It has helped make it easier to continue making healthy home cooked meals for my husband and I and I am very grateful to Kitchen Mama for helping make that happen. Every senior out there should have one of these.
Edit 9-22-23: I have had this can opener for almost 3 months now and have used it almost every day. It is still working perfectly. I had to come back and add a comment. I see some reviews saying they the can opener leaves sharp edges. I have NEVER had a sharp edge left by this opener. I just set the opener on top of the can, press the button, and the can opener does the rest.

Let me start by saying I PROMISE to come back and edit this review if ANY problems develop with this can opener in the next year. I am in my late 70s, in a wheelchair, and dealing with several different forms of painful arthritis. I still cook for myself and my husband and try to do as much "from scratch" as I can. That means I open cans on a pretty regular basis.
My new Kitchen Mama electric can opener arrived today. I think the next sentence says a LOT. I opened the box, removed the can opener, cleaned it with a food safe disinfecting wipe, installed 4 AA batteries, set a standard size can of chick peas on the counter, set the can opener down on top of the can, pressed the button, and the can open started rotating around the top of the can. THAT'S IT!!! I didn't have to fidget with positioning. I just sat it on top of the lid with the can opening part where I thought it should sit. The can opener does continue to rotate around the lid even after it has completely cut the lid BUT you do hear a difference in sound once the lid has been completely severed. I pressed the on/off button again and the can opener stopped. I removed the can opener and then lifted the lid off. No sharp edges, no muss, no fuss. I have only opened several different sized cans before writing this review which is why I promised to come back and report if any problems develop. This can opener is a life changer for me in the kitchen. I had gotten to the point where I had to get my husband to help me remove lids on cans because it was just too painful for me to do myself.
This can opener is everything I hoped it would be and more. Now I just hope it continues to work as fantastically as it does right now. I LOVE THIS THING!!! My aging in place kitchen is just about complete. I have several reacher grabbers, 2 wonderful basket air fryers, a 6 quart Instant Pot, and the best can opener I could ever ask for. Now I just need to find the perfect affordable opener for lids on jars, and an easy to use lemon juicer.

The best can opener that Iâve ever had!
My tall electric can opener finally broke after about 20 years. This one is so easy to use once I got the hang of it. It removes the lid cleanly and you wonât cut your hand on sharp edges. I like that it takes less space and cuts cans well.

Works EXACTLY as stated!
I had a similar item 30 years ago when this style of self-opening can openers first came out. Worked – but died fast. THIS is a game changer! It works exactly as shown by the manufacturer, and please don’t believe all the reviewers who rushed to show the product right out of the box. Had they taken the time to use the Kitchen Mama before rushing online, they would have discovered the little knack that makes the lid not only stick to the magnet EVERY time, but it also lifts the lid off – EVERY time.At first, I had to pick the lid off the can, until once when I was in a hurry, I pulled the opener slightly back to snug it up to the can again. THAT’S IT!! The secret of use is to slightly pull the little Mama back while you lift the lid, and it takes it off smoothly and sticks to the little magnet like it should!I can’t believe this little step is not included in the limited instructions, but it really solved the problem mentioned by so many reviewers.So far it hasn’t picked up any residue from inside the cans I have opened, so cleaning is really not an issue yet.I really like this Kitchen Mama – Red for me – and I am here to tell you the lid removal and magnet work flawlessly if you just give it a slight pull back as you remove the lid.

SHORT LIFE SPAN…DISAPPOINTING!
When I first got it I thought it was really awesome. I liked the way it opened the can so that there were no sharp edges. But it didn’t continue to work well…seemed to get “tired” when opening my occasional cans. Eventually I figured I needed to replace the batteries, and for awhile after that it picked up some energy, but within a few months only opening about 10-12 cans per month, it started dying again. Duracell batteries don’t run out that fast, so the life in this can opener is very very short. I have already purchased another can opener that I can count on, an OXO.

Por el momento ha sido una buena experiencia. TenÃa mis dudas por no ver opiniones de México, pero me ha funcionado como promete. Algunas veces no abre bien una lata, pero se soluciona facil al poner nuevamente el abrelatas en la sección que no se termino de cortar y listo (tener cuidado que no de vueltas de más porque puede dejar “pelitos” del aluminio, no me ha pasado, pero es lo que recomiendan).Apróximadamente he abierto unas 20 latas desde que lo tengo, actualizare si me llega a fallar o me causa algún inconveniente.El material es aceptable, se siente resistente para algunas caidas y el uso es bastante sencillo. Realmente no deja partes afiladas ni en la lata, ni en la sección que se desprende.
