5 out of 5 stars

Perfect after upgrading the pedals
It's very good for a bit of pedaling at work. I changed out the factory pedals for some with nubbies. My feet kept slipping on the original pedals. The replacements are much, much better. It uses 1/2" (not 9/16") which is for a children's sized BMX bike.

The media could not be loaded.

So the first thing you should be aware of is that Sunny makes full-size exercise equipment. They are quite well-built and this little unit is no different.

With that said, I bought mine used as an Amazon Warehouse Deal, and had an issue right out the gate–which is why I assume it was returned to Amazon for the Warehouse Deal program in the first place. The pedals could basically move just a few degrees back and forth before they'd get locked up on something internal. I ended up needing to get a crank removal tool to open it up, as case removal is blocked by the cranks on either side.

Immediately upon opening it, I was able to see the issue: the retaining bolt for the magnet arm had backed out and was interfacing with the spokes of one of the internal wheels. After I tightened this down, everything worked great. It also gave me an opportunity to see the insides of this thing.

So looking at the internals on this… I'm glad I got this instead of the $40 friction-based machines scattered all over Amazon. Those things either use a bolt directly on the mechanism, or a strap that you tighten–both vastly inferior to the magnetic system this uses. Basically, YOU are the electromagnet generator, and the dial moves the magnet closer or further from the internal wheel. Friction-free resistance with little to no wear!

For assembly, the instructions aren't too user-friendly, but are VERY detailed. Take your time; there's so few parts to install, you just need to make sure you abide by the 10 warnings about using the correct parts on the correct side. One side is reverse-threaded so that your movement doesn't loosen them. Don't mix them up (and DON'T cross-thread them if it's not going in correctly), torque everything well and you shouldn't have an issue.

Sunny also appears to have parts for everything at the ready, which is great to know. Remember the warranty on the mechanicals is only 6 months (frame is 12 months), so make sure everything is in good shape. This is a mechanical device, so some basic care is still required–treat it like a bicycle. The manual (also available on their site) has a great explosion diagram of all the parts and their names.

Down to use–this thing is great. Extremely quiet and the magnetic resistance system is great. Definitely a noticeable difference between settings, with the higher settings delivering a good challenge; I'm sure everyone who gets will find a range to use. The on-board computer is good for distance and speed, but doesn't interact with the resistance setting, so take the calorie counter with a grain of salt. Just get your heartrate and breathing up, and work up a sweat.

Bottom line: it's great and if you're even looking at this one vs the cheap ones on Amazon, JUST GET THIS ONE!

    Update 12/9/2019

I have been using my bike for almost 6 months and I wanted to update a few things:

    Battery Life for display:
Batteries that came with it lasted for 660 miles
2- AAA Duracells lasted for 518 miles
Caveat – When I first had the bike, when not pedaling I just rested my feet on the pedals. Now, I keep my feet on the pedals and rock back and forth a lot more now which keeps the display on without adding any miles. I also changed the batteries as soon as the display got dim so I would not lose my stats midweek.

Another idea for the still lame display: The time function show minutes and seconds, when it gets to 99:59 it then resets to 0. As I usually keep my stats accruing for a week, it would be so much nicer if when it gets to 59:59, it would switch to hours:minutes and keep going.

Mechanical update: After cycling for almost 1200 miles, the bike has not made that clicking in noise in a long time. Probably 2 months. Still super smooth and quiet. However, the plastic strap on the right pedal keeps popping off on the outside.

Also, I have changed the way I keep my castered chair from rolling away. Before I used "bed and furniture stoppers," but once dust accumulates under the rubber, they no longer stay. I cleaned them a half dozen times and they stuck for a while after each cleaning. I finally just got 2 velcro straps that go around the front support and then around the front 2 wheels and it works a lot better.

So all in all, I still LOVE this bike. In the 6 months I've had it, I've burned 29,000 calories while sitting at work and my leg muscles are pretty strong.

    ———————————————————-
I love using my bike at work. I do not know how accurate the measurements are, but by biking off and on during the day, it says I burn about 500 calories. I have racked up 660 miles since I got it June 1st (almost 3 months).

The display has an upper and a lower number. I have no idea what the upper number shows. The bottom number cycles through: Distance, Calories, Odometer, RPM, and Time. Apparently if you buy your bike in the US, units are in miles. You can reset the values by holding the button for 3 seconds. By pressing the button you can also cycle through the options and choose one to stay on instead of scanning.

    Pros
    – so smooth to peddle. Very rarely there is a bit of a click as I peddle, but by shifting my angle it goes away. I can peddle while typing and using my mouse very well. When I need to do very careful adjustments with my mouse I have to stop. My swivel office chair does move side to side a bit when I peddle, but I am sure that is good for your core strength and is not distracting after you get used to it.
    – quiet. My coworker right next to me cannot hear it. My chair makes more noise rotating side to side a bit. I keep a can of WD-40 for my chair at my desk for it.
    – comfortable. Even while not pedaling, I like to keep my feet on the pedals – I find I naturally do this every time I sit. Sometimes I just rock the pedals forward and back as a kind of fidget device.
    – I can peddle backwards and it still counts towards miles. WARNING, peddling backwards may loosen the peddles, so I do this infrequently and have never had a problem.

    Cons

    – the display upper number. I have no idea what the upper number shows, So it is pointless.
    – the display does allow you to pick a setting to stay on, but each time you stop pedaling (if I'm on the phone or doing careful work with my mouse) it resets to scan. I would love to be able to have the top number be set on something and stay that way since it does not seem to have any use.
    – the display has faded over time and now I cannot see it at all. If I shine my cellphone light from the side, I can see the readout, but that is a pain. ***Update: The display quit working altogether the day after I wrote this and I realized my batteries had been dying and were now dead. I use it a lot but I would think 2 AA batteries would work longer than 3 months. Maybe the ones that came with it were really cheap. I'll see how long a couple of Duracells last.
    – did I mention the display? feels really cheap compared to the solidly built bike.

There is a problem if your office chair is on casters of rolling away from the bike. I have seen that some people will attach a strap of some kind to the bike and chair. I have purchased a "Bed and Furniture Stopper" 4 devices that keep my chair wheels in place – I wish there were 5, but came in packs of 4. It works pretty well. though I do have to adjust them once in a while. To keep the bike from moving back, I cut a 2×6 to the perfect length to wedge between the bike and the wall. It stays put very well. Even though the bike is fairly heavy, there is no way to keep it from moving over time without a block of some kind.

So in summary, I love the bike mechanics, hate the display. Since the bike function is by far the more important aspect I only took 1 star off from the awful, awful, display.

    I hope this was helpful.

I have no idea what the upper number shows, So it is pointless.- the display does allow you to pick a setting to stay on, but each time you stop pedaling (if I’m on the phone or doing careful work with my mouse) it resets to scan. I would love to be able to have the top number be set on something and stay that way since it does not seem to have any use.- the display has faded over time and now I cannot see it at all. I’ll see how long a couple of Duracells last.- did I mention the display? feels really cheap compared to the solidly built bike. There is a problem if your office chair is on casters of rolling away from the bike. I have seen that some people will attach a strap of some kind to the bike and chair. I have purchased a “Bed and Furniture Stopper” 4 devices that keep my chair wheels in place – I wish there were 5, but came in packs of 4. It works pretty well. though I do have to adjust them once in a while. To keep the bike from moving back, I cut a 2×6 to the perfect length to wedge between the bike and the wall. It stays put very well. Even though the bike is fairly heavy, there is no way to keep it from moving over time without a block of some kind.So in summary, I love the bike mechanics, hate the display. Since the bike function is by far the more important aspect I only took 1 star off from the awful, awful, display.I hope this was helpful.

    Muy buen producto.

Väldigt plastig, känns rätt billig när man trampar. Appen har inget direkt anpassat för den här produkten. Dock lätt att montera och koppla till app.

Nothing to dislike. I am elderly and use it to strengthen my knees.

It is a convenient way of cycling at home while watching a show. After 30 minutes, I can feel the intensity of the workout and my whole body warmed up. The display will mot reset every time i start cycling but holding the button will do.
