Excellent pullup bar. Solid and reliable. – Update at end of review
I got this 2 1/2 months ago, and I have used it daily since then. I have gone from just 10 pull ups a day (in multiple sets) to more than 50 pull ups a day. Here are my impressions of this bar:- Very easy to assemble. All that is needed is included in the package, and it only takes a few minutes to mount the bar.- The bar is solid and reliable. I was a little leery to hang my weight from a door frame, but I have not had any problems. I suppose that as long as your door frame is solid you shouldn’t have any problem either. There is a retention clip that is used as a sort of security measure, by the way. All in all, I have full confidence in this bar now.- It seems very well built, and I think it will stand the test of time.- Versatility: You can use this bar to do pull ups (palms facing away,) chin ups (palms facing towards you,) and neutral grip pull ups (palms facing each other.) Not all bars have handles that allow you to do neutral grip pull ups, and this is definitely a plus, since when doing pull ups variety is important (it will allow you to engage different muscle fibers in your back.)I really have not used this bar for push ups or sit ups, but alone on its merits as a pull up bar, it deserves the highest rating.UPDATE:After 4 months, the foam on the grip areas started peeling off and eventually breaking away. Maybe it’s because I use exercise gloves when doing pull ups, but I think the construction in the grip area should be better. This is not diminishing my ability to do pull ups however, and given the overall quality of the bar, I still maintain my original review rating. But consider what I mentioned about the foam falling appart when you buy this product, and whether that might be an issue for you.

Just about perfect so far.
Just what I needed. And the price that I paid on Amazon was actually more affordable than Walmart and a couple of dollars less than it is now. So I guess I ordered mine at the right time, a time where Amazon was feeling a little generous I guess. I’ve only had this item for like 40 mins, and I had a good feeling about it from the start. Assembly was pretty simple(took about 10-12 mins), and all parts were there except for the ab straps which I don’t really need anyway; because with this I can easily improvise. It fits nicely above the closet doorway which is about 2.5 ft wide or about 2ft. 7in., and it holds my weight very well; I’m 180. I still have yet to try it out on a wider door frame, but I’m sure that it will fit above the other doors as well. A very nice tool for fitness enthusiasts and a great way to build strength and muscle when the dumb bell set just isn’t enough anymore. A very nice and affordable gift for someone who likes to workout a lot. I’ve been wanting a chin up bar for a long time, and now I finally have one and I love it. It’s so easy to use, another plus. Iron Gym is my new best friend. Highly recommended. Money well spent, what more can I say?***UPDATE***After trying this product on 3 different doorways, it works on all 3 and each are different widths. However, I did notice how it will leave small indentations in the side molding of the door frame and sometimes black scuff marks on the paint. The foam grips and padding seem like they might last for a couple of months, but I do intend to improvise when they wear out. I’m about to place a thin piece of padding in between the frame of the door to prevent more serious damage, because I do believe with heavy usage the Iron Gym will do further and more noticeable damage to the door frame. Thinking about my weight, the natural effects of wear and tear and my passion for working out; I’m going to have to take certain measures to ensure that I do not cause serious structural damage to the door frame. This will probably do damage even quicker with heavier people, so keep an eye on the condition of your door frame after every workout. Other than that, it’s still a great product that I intend to use every day.

Great workout tool, but even better for high energy kids
This is a great product. It’s been used for about 5 months, with no visible wear to the grips or the door trim. No installation involved! It is very sturdy – suitable for adults and children. We only use it hung up in a doorway, though it is also designed to be used for floor exercises. It’s used many times every single day, by my son who gets sudden bursts of energy and needs a quick, convenient outlet for them. Lacking arm strength, he typically does flips, rather than pull ups, but it still depletes his energy (and strengthens his core) so it’s a WINNER! The door will not shut while this is hanging in the doorway, but that is easily rectified by lifting the pullup bar up to remove it. There is a safety clip that gets inserted into the trim that runs along the top of the doorway, but this clip in no way contributes to the strength of the bar when it is in use, or the stability of the bar when it is not in use (as long as it isn’t bumped). It is merely used to make sure that when the bar is removed, it is not removed by rocking the bar backwards, because that would cause it to fall on you if not for the presence of the little clip. It may look flimsy, but it is more than enough to get the job done, and I love how it does not need to be hammered or screwed or in any other way installed into the door frame. It simply slides in and out. Take it out when you take the bar down, because it will fall out without the bar to keep it in place. To remove the bar from its position in the doorway, you simply stand on the side of the doorway where the safety clip is installed and lift the bar straight up and over the clip. Already supporting the weight of the bar, there is no danger of it falling on you!

Easy to assemble, but the foam backing came off after only five days of use. Had to return it.
